Three exceptional women at different stages in their lives, set out on a journey back to the source. For actress Maryam d'Abo, filmmaker Nino Kirtadze and concert pianist Khatia Buniatashvili their shared Georgian roots lie deep in their identity. What in their common origin has made them who they are?
Khatia Buniatashvili was 16 years old, when she decided to leave her home country for a musical career in Vienna. By contrast, Nino Kirtadze was 29, had starred in an Oscar-nominated movie and worked as a war correspondent when she left for France. Maryam d’Abo doesn’t share their memories of poverty and war, but the former Bond Girl (The Living Daylights) grew up among Georgian emigrants near Paris, the granddaughter of a famous Georgian general and national hero. Khatia, Nino and Maryam look for the origin of their talents in their Georgian background and find hidden treasure in a fascinating country with a rich history in arts, poetry and music.
