Cahier Africain wins Zonta Club Award in Locarno and is awarded German predicate especially valuable

Heidi Specogna's “Cahier Africain” which celebrated its world premiere at Semaine de la Critique, the independent section of Locarno Film Festival, won the Zonta Club Award for “defending ethical values”.

Also, the Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung (FBW) awarded “Cahier Africain” highly coveted Prädikat besonders wertvoll (predicate especially valuable). The certification mark is only given to films of outstanding quality.

The jury was particularly enthusiastic about the film’s impressive shots and imagery as well as Heidi Specogna’s ability to depict individual fate without losing sight of the big picture. “Cahier Africain”, the commission explained, illustrates the lives of African people with emotional closeness beyond comparison.
