Additional takes for The Colour of Yearning

For his cinematic approximation to the feeling of yearning, Thomas Riedelsheimer went to Couva de Moura for film-taking – one of the most notorious districts of Lisbon. In April, he returns to take some more material.

Many Cape Verdean migrants live in Couva de Moura. The first Lisbon-born generation lives in tension between being bound to African roots and the feeling of being home in Portugal. For The Colour of Yearning Thomas Riedelsheimer needs additional scenes for the cut: “The Lisbon-part of my film is about a special dance that connects the migrants with Africa and the dreams of a group of young rap artists.”

The raw cut version of The Colour of Yearning was finished in November. The cinema release (distributor: Piffl Medien) is planned for the second half of 2016. The film is partnered by the WDR (editor: Jutta Krug) and the BR (editor: Petra Felber).
